Gordon Howell :: Electric & Acoustic Guitar, Keys
Although he's primarily used as an electric guitar player at The Well Community Church's evening services, Gordon Howell has been playing piano for 20 years! He has been utilized by The Well Worship Ministry to teach music theory, is one of our best electric/acoustic guitar players, and is one of our most loyal volunteers. Howell is one of the featured musicians on The Well Worship's first studio project, "Reign In Us," released in December 2009.
His passion for music was evident at the early age of three as he started playing the family piano, but wasn't a passion he began to fully cultivate until his senior year of high school. Howell, who had focused on athletics and academics, changed AP classes to music classes as a senior, fueling his dormant passion.
Howell decided to further his music education when he attended California State University, Northridge where he earned a degree in Music: Commercial and Media Writing, which includes film scoring, songwriting, producing, and recording. He was able to practice what he learned in school for four years through his role as a worship leader/director at The Church at Rocky Peak in Chatsworth, CA.
Combining his education, passion for music, and personal experiences, Howell's future goals as a musician include producing other artists. He has been recording his own music as well as producing and engineering for other artists for six years in his home studio where he also gives private lessons and offers other services.
Howell has been most influenced by Bobby McFerrin, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Guns & Roses, Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, Coldplay, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Shawn Clement, Thomas Newman, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer.
