Chris Beery :: Worship Pastor

Living by Romans 12:1-2, worshipping God is a lifestyle for Chris Beery.  While he worships God through music often, it is not uncommon for Beery to point out to friends and family how amazing God's creation is or how he's seen the Lord's provision and seen how God faithfully proves His character in our lives daily.  Beery is known as a teachable, humble, and obedient man with a pastor's heart who loves God in addition to having extraordinary gifts vocally allowing him to serve in the capacity of Worship Pastor at The Well Community Church.

Some may say that Beery began leading worship by accident since accepting an invitation to chaperone a Jr. High surf camp one weekend in the summer of 2002 turned into five years of leading worship for both youth and adults at The Bridge EV Free in Fresno.  However, for those who have had the opportunity to worship with Beery know that it was no accident; it was a calling!

Beery began singing in children's choir at a young age, but chose to pursue athletics and other activities that interested him more after having "to wear a ridiculous outfit involving a large cummerbund."  Beery had not sang publicly for more than seven years and barely knew how to play the guitar in 2002 when he was appointed the Jr. High Worship Director at The Bridge EV Free where he has quickly asked to serve the larger congregation as a worship leader for their adult services.

Despite a long family history at The Bridge EV Free where his father is still an elder, Beery felt called to a new church family - The Well.  In December 2007 Beery made The Well his home and began to lead worship regularly.  He loved the church community, being close to his family who all reside in Fresno, and had finished his degree in Kinesiology from CSU Fresno - but in 2008 he felt the Lord tug on his heart once again.  This time he wasn't being asked to call a new church "home," God was calling him to call a new country "home!"

Beery was faithful and obedient to the Lord's call and moved to New Zealand in 2008 not knowing anyone there, not having a job lined up, and not knowing when or how he would afford to fly back to the US.  The Lord repaid Beery's faithfulness with faithfulness and provided a wonderful community in New Zealand for him.  From August 2008 - December 2008 Beery lead worship at Dunedin City Baptist Church in New Zealand, sang in three weddings, and earned a living as a server as well as Busking (Street Performing).  In the Lord's perfect timing he earned money to fly home to sing in a wedding in California in December 2008.  Beery's time in New Zealand included some incredible experiences - especially through Busking and the conversations that the Lord divinely orchestrated him to have.  While in New Zealand, Beery also ran a marathon and played at Sam Stock 2008 Christian Music Festival.

New Zealand quickly became "home" to Beery and he intended to return after fulfilling his promise to sing in a friend's wedding in December 2008.  He got re-hired at an old job he had in Fresno to earn money to fly back to New Zealand and decided to reconnect with The Well and possibly serve in the worship ministry again until he could get back to New Zealand.  In February 2009 Beery began leading worship at The Well and by June 2009 was hired as a part-time Worship Pastor.  Fresno was quickly becoming "home" again as was The Well.  The Lord was, again, calling Beery to new ministry opportunities.  By August 2009 Beery was asked to become a full-time Worship Pastor at The Well.  He is one of the most sought after vocalists in the worship ministry to do weddings and other events and was the featured vocalist on The Well Worship's second studio project, "God of Love" released May 2010.  Beery wrote the title track, "God of Love" after being inspired by a Mark Driscoll sermon about the Trinity.

Beery is also the owner of a local longboard skateboard company Beery Boards and personally builds all of the longboards.  He is a medaled bodybuilding competitor, enjoys snowboarding, surfing, wake boarding, personal training, exercising, disc golf, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
