Nate Sharits :: Southeast

It wouldn't be a joke if you said that Nate Sharits is a "One Man Band!"  While the acoustic guitar has been his primary instrument for the last nine years, Sharits also plays the mandolin, electric guitar, electric bass, upright bass, keys, harmonica, and melodica.  When asked what his future goals are as a musician he said that he wants to "be able to play acoustic guitar, drums, and harmonica at the same time really well."  His dream "gig" is to tour with Hillsong United worshipping while incorporating all of his instruments.

Sharits is no stranger to the role of a worship leader.  While he's only been a Band Leader at The Well's Southeast Campus for a few months, he previously lead worship for nine years at another church.  For the past two years Sharits has attended The Well and has bonded deeply with the rich community of the Southeast Campus.  He says, "I LOVE SOUTHEAST, it's awesome!!!  God has been doing great things there!!!"  And God has been doing great things through Sharits as a Band Leader at Southeast!

In addition to serving as a Band Leader, he is also a Life Group Leader and has poured into both the musician community and the greater community of the Southeast Campus.  "He really exemplifies the statement by Jesus that, 'the greatest among you is the greatest servant'" says Dave Obwald, the Southeast Campus Pastor.  Obwald says, "I love this buy because I know that what he sings on stage matches his heart and the way he lives his life.  He loves Jesus and it shows as he greets new people at the Southeast campus and as he intentionally prays for and leads the people in his life group."

Playing and practicing music is how Sharits spends most of his free time.   He has built his dream electric guitar; an American Strat that he refinished and modified, which he plays through a modified VOX AC15 guitar amp.   He has an inexpensive Carvin 750S that he says "plays better than most $1,000 guitars" and a used Michael Kelly Mandolin that "sounds beautiful!"  His dream acoustic guitar is a Martin HD28 with fishman pickups.

A native of Fresno, Sharits grew up with two older brothers who have both made him a proud uncle.  His parents are also Fresno residents and are described by Sharits as, "AMAZING!"  Currently, Sharits is a Middle School Special Education English Teacher.  He has a B.A. in Psychology and an incomplete minor in Guitar from CSU Fresno.  He is finishing up his M. A. in Special Education & Teaching from National University.  When he's not playing music, Sharits enjoys reading, being in nature, and hanging out with his friends, family, and Life Group.
